12 Halloween Photo Booth Ideas for Your Party | Free Online

Twelve ways to make one photo strip feel like it came from your Halloween party and nobody else's: costume tricks, spooky frames and filters, and a few things only you would think to upload.

Most of these are a frame color, a filter and something your guests are already wearing. No vendor, no printer, no app to download. You set the booth up once, share a link or QR code, and guests shoot their own strips from their phones. Halloween lands on a Saturday this year (October 31), so the booth is an easy thing to build the night before.

What your guests put on

The best Halloween strips are really about the costumes, so give people a reason to use them.

1. Four frames, one tiny horror movie

Pick the 4 Row layout and treat it like a comic strip: calm, creeping, scream, freeze. Set the countdown to 3 or 5 seconds and turn on burst capture, and the booth fills each slot in turn, so nobody has to touch the screen between shots. If shot three isn't scary enough, retake just that slot from the review step.

2. Face stickers for the guest who didn't dress up

There is always someone who turns up in jeans. The booth's face-tracking stickers (Dog Filter, Bunny Ears, Crown, Mustache and more) follow the face as it moves, so a half-costume takes about two seconds. Want something spookier? Upload a one-off sticker on the spot and adjust its opacity so it blends in. An image with a transparent background works best.

3. Coming as a character? Start from a ready-made booth

If your costume is a character rather than a creature, the anime category has ready-made booths for Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen, Bleach, Naruto and One Piece. Open one and pose in character, no setup needed.

What the booth itself does

These are just combinations of settings already in the builder. Decide how the strip should look before anyone poses, and every shot comes out matching.

4. Black frame, Noir filter

Drain the color out and even a dollar-store cape reads as a black-and-white horror still. It is also the most grown-up option here, a better fit for a dinner party than a kids' table.

5. Grape Ink frame, Moody filter, Circle shape

A deep purple frame with the Moody filter, and every guest ends up inside a crystal ball. The Circle shape forces a square crop on each photo, so the look holds even on layouts that aren't square.

6. Cyber Lime frame, Neon filter

Toxic green, loud, a little radioactive. This is the one to pick for a kids' party or any room that is going to be messy and bright all night.

7. Red frame, Dramatic filter, Grain texture

A gritty, slasher-poster strip. The Red frame is a strong blood red, the Dramatic filter adds punch to the photos, and the Grain texture adds grit to the border.

8. The found-footage strip

Choose the Vintage or LoFi filter, then switch on the date and time stamp. Date and time can be toggled independently and have their own color, so the strip reads like a tape someone found in the attic, timestamped October 31.

Things only your party has

Uploads are what turn a generic spooky booth into yours. Use images you have the rights to.

9. Your own cobweb texture

Upload a spiderweb, bat or pumpkin pattern as a custom frame texture, then tune the tile size, gap, offset and rotation until it sits right. You can lock the texture in the builder so guests can't change it later.

10. Three stamps: bat, pumpkin, ghost

The builder lets you add up to three stamp images. Each one can start switched on or be locked, and once a stamp is on the strip it can be dragged, resized and rotated into position.

11. One scary word, scrawled

Set the text overlay in Permanent Marker and keep it short: "Boo," "Behind you," "Run." A single word reads better at strip size than a sentence. You can set up text presets ahead of time so guests choose from your list instead of typing.

12. The QR code on the door

When you publish your booth you get a shareable link and a QR code you can download. Print it small and stick it on the front door, the candy bowl or a pumpkin. Guests scan it, shoot their strip and download it straight to their phone.

A few questions before you start

Do I need a printer, props or a vendor?

No. The frame, filter and layout ideas are all software, and the prop ideas use things people already have on hand.

Do guests need an app or an account?

No. Guests open your link in their browser, and you don't need an account to build the booth either.

Are my guests' costume photos uploaded anywhere?

No. Strips are put together in the browser and downloaded to the guest's own device. The only images that reach our servers are the texture and stamp images you choose when setting up the booth, never guest photos. That makes it a comfortable option for kids' parties.

Can I stop guests from changing the look?

Partly, yes. Frame color, texture and stamps can each be locked in the builder, so the Halloween look you set stays put.

Can guests choose their own layout?

If you let them. Pick as many of the nine layouts as you like and guests choose between them, or pick just one and they go straight to the camera.
